It was an accident because she didn't know about that ability yet. As all of her abilities revealed and secrets of her life unfolds such as her being the protector of the Mai race where she was told that she belongs, she seems to want to find redemption to get out from the guilt feeling. Her plan on The Nine Lives of Chloe King season 1 episode 2 is to help the family of Xavier by taking down the drug ring that Gabriel is reluctantly working for. Aside from this, her new found abilities will surely make her reconsider connecting to other people such as with Brian to avoid another Xavier accident.
